Zulu, a classic 60's" film depicting the true events when a Zulu force of 4500 attacked a small British outpost and missionary station in Zululand (South Africa) on 22/23rd January 1879. The British had suffered a massive defeat the previous day when they lost 1500 men that were attacked by a 40,000 strong Zulu force. The 139 man British force had a few hours notice of the approaching Zulu force and used upturned wagons and seed sacks to form a defensive position around the small buildings situated at "Rorkes Drift". The Zulu's charged and attacked the position time and time again for almost 20 hours, but the British held firm and by the following morning over 500 Zulu's lay dead within the position and immediately around it. The 139 defenders of Rorkes Drift entered British military history and 11 of these received Britain's highest honour, the Victoria Cross".
